1. Equipment Structure
Continuous Rotary Tube Furnace:
Generally equipped with dedicated feeding and discharging devices. The feed inlet and outlet must ensure that materials can enter and exit continuously and stably, while minimizing heat loss during the process. The tube is usually long to provide a sufficient heating zone, meeting the heating requirements of materials during continuous flow. The internal rotary device must ensure that materials rotate evenly inside the long tube to avoid material accumulation or uneven local heating.
Intermittent Rotary Tube Furnace:
The structure is relatively simple, mainly including the furnace body, heating elements, rotary device, and furnace door. The furnace door requires high sealing to ensure stable temperature and atmosphere inside during heating. Since continuous feeding and discharging are not required, the tube length can be flexibly designed according to actual needs and is usually shorter than that of the continuous rotary tube furnace.
2. Working Principle
Continuous Rotary Tube Furnace:
Materials continuously enter and leave the furnace. It operates like an assembly line, with raw materials continuously fed from one end, heated evenly during rotation in the heating zone, and then continuously output as finished or semi-finished products at the other end. For example, in large-scale continuous annealing of metal wire, the wire passes through the rotary tube furnace at a certain speed, undergoing the set temperature zone and time inside the furnace, completing the annealing process and outputting continuously.
Intermittent Rotary Tube Furnace:
Materials are processed in batches. A certain amount of material is placed inside the furnace, the door is closed, and heating and rotation begin. After processing the batch, the door is opened to remove the product, and then the next batch is loaded for processing. For example, in laboratory sintering experiments of small amounts of special ceramic materials, an appropriate amount of ceramic powder is placed in the intermittent rotary tube furnace, sintered, removed, and then new samples are loaded for the next experiment.
3. Production Efficiency
Continuous Rotary Tube Furnace:
High production efficiency. Due to its continuous operation, under stable running conditions, it can process materials continuously for long periods, handling large quantities per unit time. This effectively increases output for large-scale, batch production enterprises, meeting high market demand.
Intermittent Rotary Tube Furnace:
Relatively low production efficiency. Since materials must be loaded and unloaded each time and the heating and processing are intermittent with pauses, the amount processed per unit time is less. However, it offers higher flexibility when processing small batches or products with special requirements.
